Can I use the Heat Helper with my gas dryer?
No. The Heat Helper is for electric dryers only. Gas dryers actually
vent the exhaust from their flame directly into your cloths so that
exhaust is vented out along with the hot air. While this
exhaust is mainly just water and carbon dioxide, it isn't safe
to vent into the house.
Will the lint from my dryer get all over my house?
Most of the lint from the dryer is caught in the dryer's lint trap.
However, there is always some that will make it past the lint trap so the
Heat Helper includes a secondary trap to catch anything that does get
past the dryer. This fine mesh screen covers the hot air outlet on the
front of the unit. The screen is removable. It should be cleaned just
like your lint trap but this only needs to be done every 4-5 loads of
laundry.
Will the moisture in the laundry make my house too humid?
Not usually. Unless you live in a very humid part of the country most
people are looking for additional humidity in the winter. One of the
features of the Heat Helper is that it helps increase the indoor
humidity level.
What if the house gets too hot or humid?
The Heat Helper has a convenient on and off switch on the front of the
unit. Normally you would only turn this on in the fall and off in the
spring, however it can be used at any time to divert dryer heat outside
the house if you do manage to get it too hot or humid inside the house.
Will the Heat Helper fit my dryer?
Most people don't realize it but until a few years ago, all standard
dryers were the same size. Recently dryer manufacturers began making
dryers that are 2 inches smaller than the old standard size. The Heat
Helper is designed to work with either the old standard or the slightly
smaller new dryers.
My dryer is under a cabinet. Will it still fit?
Most likely it will. The Heat Helper raises the dryer 9 inches and is
designed to fit under a standard cabinet. Keep in mind that your
washing machine door is much longer than 9 inches so if you can open the
washer under the cabinet the Heat Helper will definitely fit.
What sort of hoses will I need?
You will need two hoses in order to use the Heat Helper. One from the
dryer to the Heat Helper and another one from the Heat Helper to your
outside vent. Normally the existing hose you have now will work for one
of these two connections. For the second one you will need a 4 inch
hose. These come in 5 and 8 foot lengths and can be found at any
hardware or home improvement store for around $5.
